Currently NSC processing time for employment based 485 is 15th Sept. 2007... My notice date is 18th Sept. 2007 (based on case status shown on USCIS site)
Looks like I am going to miss my GC by 3 days and wait till next year  I highly doubt that dates will stay at 2005 during next month bulletin.. (I truly hope I am wrong!)

What do u mean by genuine RFEs....
My RFE was to prove status from 1999 to 2003..show I-20/EAD/F1/H1 etc....
Regardless of RFEs what I meant was preadjudication is a myth....anyone can get an RFE whether he is preadjudicated or not....
U can get RFEs for the silliest of reasons...and once you get that RFE it does not matter if it is genuine or not....you have to respond and your case gets delayed.
I don't understand why members in this forum are so hopeful that if they are preadjudicated then it is a matter of time (and soon) they will get green.
SoP
Well, as I gave some examples, a genuine RFE is non-subjective, for something missing/incorrect which has to be addressed. By non-genuine I meant something where an IO decides to asks for additional info to clear something for which he/she had a reasonable (for him/her) doubt. Of course, all RFE,s have to be answered. For preadjudicated cases which have not been waiting long, and nothing has changes since preadjudication, there should be a little chance of a fresh RFE.
For your case, if documents attached with your I-485 did not prove that throwout your stay in the US you were covered by some type of legal status, they have to ask you to prove it. One of the conditions to get you a GC is that you were never illegally present in US.

Great Idea. We can have a poll on this just to see how many support this.
ya, lets step-up a poll and have everyone vote, as if this is the US congress. And after voting leave it for someone else to work on this and other "brilliant" idea. There needs to be a reality check. This poll doesn't mean anything unless there are enough people to spend time and energy at every level. But ya, lets setup a poll and have everyone vote, it will give everyone a feel good factor that everyone contributed in the advocacy effort, how? by voting in the pool and not doing anything about how everyone votes.

This was the first time I participated in the event - I had no idea of what to expect and what can be achieved. I can honestly say that meeting all the people who attended the advocacy days showed me the dedication this group has and also realized that there was so much more to initiating laws and passing laws and how futile our arguments are on the forums regarding different categories in EB.
In the meetings that I attended either the staff knew little about our problems (green card backlogs and legal immigration) or they knew of our problems and told us about the vast hurdles in the political environment that keeps popping up and derailing immigration reform. However, at no time the issue of EB1, EB2, or EB3 ever came up!! At the end of Monday, most of us met to share our experiences and as far as I can remember none of them mentioned it either. There was a lot of discussion on what the staffers wanted to know about IV and the solutions it was proposing. We were met with both understanding as well as skepticism - and I believe our job is to have more discussion with them and to make them see our point of view.
Obviously we cannot be in DC to do this all the time, but I believe that we need to continue to keep in touch with these staffers as well as make repeated visits to the local district offices too. Two observations, many of the staffers wanted to know if we were from the district or the state that their offices represented - and even though IV tried to match this, we just lacked members from certain area, so fellow IVians, I request larger and wider participation in such efforts. Secondly, I have met with both my Rep as well as one of my Senators office locally, and when I mentioned it to the staffer in DC, she was very happy and was more receptive.
I want to take this opportunity to Thank IV for opening my eyes to a world that I live in but never cared to understand. The road ahead for us immigrants is hard and long, but now I have started to pave the road with IV leadership. The question is will it be just few working hard and long? Or can we hope for better with 40,000 members?

Let us all refrain from using bad language. America prides itself on its freedom of speech. Everybody has the right to speak their mind, but let us be mindful of how we say it!
For all those of you who are ticked off by Sherman and the likes, please come to Washington DC on the 18th and prove them wrong. If we speak loud enough, we will be heard.
See you all at DC on the 18th!

If you want the leadership of IV, go for it instead of complaining about it. Invest the time and effort, and I will follow your lead if it makes sense and do my part.
Thanks for the feedback. Please take an effort to read this thread before telking me i am complaining.
The Administrator2 is calling me and other handle MadhuVJ same person and accusing us. We are not and he keep accusing.

What irritates me the most about the GC backlog is not knowing exactly how many people are in line ahead of me.
We all know how many visas (without spillovers, etc.) are allocated to each country every year, but none of us knows exactly how many GC applications/PDs for each year are pending, which makes it extremely difficult to even semi-accurately predict when a certain PD will become current and stay current.
When I ask myself when I will get my GC, the answer is, "anywhere between the next month to the next 3 years", which is sad to say the least.
That being said, I commend the core team's efforts in pursuing this option.
I was looking at my paypal history and for some reason (problems with downloading history), was only able to see the $50 recurring contributions that I have made (I was on a $20 recurring contribution schedule before I started the $50, and I have made numerous, $50, $100 one time contributions during various funding drives) to IV, and that total was $1000 (20 months), I expect the total from all my contributions to be close to $2000.
It may sound like I am tooting my own horn, but the intention of this disclosure is to motivate other members to start contributing. There used to be a time when I felt that if I contributed, I would be the only one doing so, and things wouldn't go anywhere and I would end up wasting my money. Boy, was I wrong. There are thousands of members who contribute and it is because of the support of these very members that we have achieved what we have.
Hey, atleast this way, when I whine about the situation, no one can tell me that I should do something about it and not whine, because I have done something about it, I have contributed !!
I have had an EAD for the last two years, and it was only because of IV efforts in July 2007that I was able to get one, and ask any of the newer members that haven't filed their 485s yet, they would spend $2000 in a heartbeat if that guaranteed being able to file their 485s.
That being said, I pledge to contribute $50 for the FOIA drive as soon as an option is made available on the IV contributions page.
Best,

Hello IV core,
Just wanted to thank you for your efforts. I just contributed $100. That is all I can spare right now after all the freakin.. lawyer fees:D Please continue the good work.
Top Priroity let's push for recapture of visa numbers otherwise this victory today will put us in a backlog of 4-5 years.
Other than that I think we need to support the SKIL bill.
Address the BEC issue. A lot of folks are still stuck there.
And then do something about this numbersUSA propaganda. What a crock of BS!!
Again, thanks guys. YOU r the BEST!!
And oh let's not forget to thank Rep. Lofgren for her efforts. And let us also thank AILA/AILF and Murthy for her letter to Chertoff. I think all of this added the pressure and resulted in this miracle.
Good night and finally.........sweet dreams!!!

That sounds like a good plan, but I didn't see a provision for people applied for I-485 and waiting for their dates to become current to add their spouses ? ( Disclaimer : I'm not one of them :) ) How is that going to get tackled ?

I'll send the letters when the final draft is ready. I agree though, the final draft should address difficulties faced by both EB2 as well as EB3 if possible. On the other hand the particular argument made in this letter - against the USCIS ad hoc processing and not honoring PDs - is kinda difficult to make for EB3 cases since EB3-I was "U" at the same time. Unfortunately we do not have actual proof from the recent past where USCIS actually processed EB3 applications out of order which we have in case of EB2 category.
What are IV core's thoughts on this campaign? I would like to see some comment from IV core on this idea. If it can be made an official IV action item by the core I bet there will much more momentum behind this.

It is good idea. And ofcourse better than visa number, EB1/EB2/EB3 and all other crap. Countries like UK, Canada, etc. have similar kind of immigration policies.
Even after having such a relaxed immigration rules, only leftovers go to Canada, UK and Australia.
