Super interesting thread here. Very enjoyable reading, at least for most of the messages. (except for the ditzo who cant see why Apple would have two seperate iphone upgrade dates, one in Jan and one in June.....it makes complete business sense).
The minute I saw Verizons announcement out of nowhere about rolling out the LTE network in 1/3 of the country on Dec 5, my ears went up. I mean why do that if there isnt something following it soon after? It sure SEEMs like they are "setting the table" for something.
I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I just really hope the Verizon Iphone is available in White from Day One. The white is sharp looking.

The Apple store onine and the retail stores are not offering double dicounts...you will have to choose the sale price OR your education / corporate discount. If you found a location that gives both, they aren't following the published guidelines. Good for you, but it doesn't mean the other locations will follow suite.

The poor kid simply hit the "cash" button before typing in the total. I used to work at BB (now an attorney), so I feel sorry for the kid. The OP committed retail theft by knowingly leaving the store with a product he didn't pay full value for (differentiated from receiving a computer by mistake because of the intent requirement). If the kid is not fired he will surely be written up and never able to move upward in the company to get things like health insurance and other benefits. What's worse is that this is the time of the year when BB takes on a lot of new hires.
It's sad to see people surprised at "morality police" coming out against the OP. He committed a freaking crime! Worse, he thinks he deserved to do it because he was a good boy and didnt steal the lady's iPhone earlier...
I doubt it will do any good, but I'll do my part and forward this thread to some friends at BB corporate. I'm sure they could track down the receipt and let the kids gm know why his register was off by that amount and that it wasn't internal theft. They'd also give the GM OP's info from his rz card, which could be amusing... :)

well, I can see that it wouldn't be fast enough for unbuffered video, but if the receiving piece of hardware could decode h.264, then it would be fast enough, right? I can stream h.264 from apples website wirelessly.

I'm calling it B.S. for sure. The shell geometry is insanely archaic and looks nothing like the fluidic form-factor seen on current and previous iPhones as well as the iPad. Creases where edges and surfaces meet are way too harsh for Apple's I.D. standards. FAKE!!

I am using my windows machine at work, when trying to check whether iTunes is up to date an error is displayed, saying, that the iTunes cannot connect to the server.

From what I've heard of Windows 8 so far, I am impressed that Microsoft are back on the ball in terms of features that users want. A lot of the features coming in Windows 8 should either have been added ages ago, or are polished/expanded versions of something that existed in Windows for a long time, but was either poorly integrated or went stale due to no updates for it over the years. It will also be good to see a return of the Marketplace.
The idea of Live integration and the 'Ribbon' in explorer are the only things that put me off.
What disappoints me in Lion is the system requirements. It is massively bloated. Core2Duo and 2GB of RAM minimum is terrible. Even though my Mac is capable of running it, I'm still not impressed. Hopefully the Resume feature will kick ass so much that it will be worth it. Other than Resume and Versions, the rest of Lion's features are a big 'meh'.

There is a big difference between paying more for service that costs the carriers more and paying for a service/feature that doesn't cost the carriers anything.
America is HUGE compared to Hong Kong to Europe so it costs the carriers far more to get coverage.
Perhaps you might want to compare ..say San Fran or Newyork city to Hong Kong. City to City comparison seems reasonable, right? America is huge, However I don't see a reason why they can't invest enough money to get San Fran with better connection speed at a lower cost given the population is dense enough to cover the cost. Japan is big enough? Their land line speed and 3G network is pretty damn fast and cheap.
My whole point is...getting 50 states all cover with uber 3G speed at low cost is tough, but getting a city such as San Fran or Newyork city should't be hard. They are not doing it because it's just no incentive to do so. Competition is the key.

On IE7 I just tried to vote a post "up" and the counter incremented +2. I then tried to undo this by voting it "down" and the counter incremented +2 again. Now post #50 is at +5, when it should be at +1.
I tried a different post and the expected behavior ensued. Weird.
Edit: And now I just tried this post. I could increment up then down to get to -1, but couldn't change my vote after two instances.

I have to say this game kicks the crap out of Modern Warfare 2 which felt dull and boring in multiplayer mode. The maps are far more varied than in Modern Warfare 2 and much more interesting. The game modes are pretty good and the best thing about it is the customisation you can do. Plus the new leader boards are good for those of us who are pretty competitive.
Overall I'm much happier with this game than I ever was with Modern Warfare 2 which I only ever played FFA on and people always used to cheat by using Tactical Insertion to sit next to each other and get free kills.
